The book of Proverbs contains the wise sayings of Solomon
and others, given under God's direct control.
They give good advice about life. Wisdom is the principal
thing and is shown to be more precious than gold, or silver,
or jewels, or anything else this world can give.
The wisdom contained in the book of Proverbs - and in the
rest of God's word - is the knowledge of God's principles
and practice.
The truly wise not only know God's word, they also try to
live it. They believe and honour Him first in their lives
and behave carefully towards others.
A large section of Proverbs (chapters 10-24) contains valuable
advice for God's children in their day-to-day experiences.
The ruin that comes from sloth and the folly of ignorance
are among the warnings given.
