The 2nd Book of Chronicles continues the theme of the 1st Book
- that the people would find their greatest joy, and the nation
its greatest blessing, in the worship of God and obedience to
His Laws.
Instances are highlighted in which the religious zeal of the
king, or the people, resulted in victories and in a period of
peace, whereas wickedness led only to defeat and trouble. By
such means God sought to teach His nation.
Chapters 1-9 deal with the period when Solomon built the Temple
in Jerusalem. It was a time of great prosperity. Later chapters
record the blessings and troubles linked with the good and bad
reigns of various kings of Judah.
